Mediation is a process in which a trained, impartial person (or panel) helps disputing parties understand their concerns, identify possible solutions and reach a mutual agreement.At Community Boards, mediation is based on the voluntary cooperation and good faith participation of all parties. Mediation is confidential, and at Community Boards all information shared during a mediation is protected by the California Evidence Code.

I offer mediation services to individuals as well as large groups. Mediation, a form of alternative dispute resolution (ADR), often saves people time and money. The disputing parties have a say in the outcome. I specialize in real estate issues (landlord / tenant disputes, TIC and roommate issues), neighbor issues, relationship conflicts, divorce cases, child support issues, non-profit board member conflicts and staff issues (supervisors, co-workers). If you are willing, we can work towards a solution that works everybody. Using ADR, the parties leave the room knowing they were able to work together with help of a neutral third party. Mediation is efficient and I will make sure both parties feel heard and understood. Going to court is costly and stressful. Mediation is private and confidential. Neighborhood Courts is the first restorative justice program in the nation to address low-level crimes (graffiti, drinking in public, panhandling, etc.) in a cost effective and humane manner.The Courts are organized and staffed by the District Attorney’s Office and California Community Dispute Services, in collaboration with the Mayor’s Office, the Board of Supervisors, San Francisco Police Department, Sheriff’s Department, Pretrial Diversion Program and the community members who serve on the panel. In 2005 a total of $1.5 million was saved by the Neighborhood Court process (for a six-month time period).I serve the Mission and Bayview Neighborhood Courts. The Department of Police Accountability (DPA) (formerly known as the Office of Citizen Complaints) works with citizens and members of the SF Police Department to resolve conflict through mediation. The mission of the Department of Police Accountability is to promptly, fairly and impartially investigate complaints against San Francisco police officers, make policy recommendations regarding police practices and conduct periodic audits of the San Francisco Police Department. Teaching Parents organize and lead enrichment projects to do with the children every week. We lead a snack group; and provide supervision, nurturing, and support.In addition to being a teaching parent, I've had the following parent jobs: Layover teacher (optional extended care between programs). • BCA is the only national breast cancer organization that does not accept funding from corporations that profit from or contribute to cancer. Board Members are volunteers who set the vision for BCA and lead the organization by determining organizational policy, assuring the organization's financial security, and representing BCA's views to the world at large.• Fundraising is one of the many activates Board Members help with. In 2008 I organized a fundraiser for BCA that raised $6,624. In 2009, I raised $10,361 at the fundraiser I organized. • As a BCA board member I also volunteered to table at corporate events to share information about our goals. I’ve spoken with hundreds of employees from various companies. Lucasfilm, Ltd. and Mercer Consulting are just a few of the companies where I’ve volunteered to table at fairs, on behalf of Breast Cancer Action.

• Prepared disadvantaged and/or at-risk youth, ages 5 to 18, for success in life by providing therapeutic mentoring. Treatment goals varied for each child. Personal empowerment as well as community leadership were stressed for all mentees. ROYAL mentors are extensively trained in Cognitive/Behavioral and othertherapeutic techniques.• Attended monthly mentor meetings to discuss progress with our mentees

I began as the Contracts Assistant in May 2000 and was promoted to Contracts Manager in October 2001. Family Mosaic Project (FMP) works with the top three percent of the severely emotionally disturbed youth in SF. FMP provides services to the families such as therapy, tutoring, mentoring and respite care. I managed those contracts between the City and the providers.

• Assist the Executive Director with projects as needed; assist the Family Advocates with all aspects of office duties; coordinate summer camp applications and billing procedures; create service authorizations using FMA and Ecura computer systems to send to providers.• Work with therapists, family advocates and the administrative team to ensure all services are delivered to clients; process all invoices; create and maintain budgeting files and service authorization binders; reception and other office duties as needed; improved the service authorization creation process; ensured timely payment of providers.

• Mentor young girls in Bayview Hunters Point in order to be a positive role model, friend, confidant, counselor and ally. The program aims to reduce teen pregnancy, truancy, drug use and gang involvement.

MILESTONES was a residential drug-treatment center for ex-offenders. There were 100 clients in the program. • Taught job readiness courses to small groups of residents as they prepared to enter the work force after incarceration or living on the streets with substance abuse issues.• Worked with individuals to review their resume and prepare them for interviews.• Led a "Working in Recovery" group to discuss issues of working, fears of drug relapse, balance work and family life and learning life skills such as how to save money, balance a budget and invest money for the future.• Worked with community based organizations, small and large organizations, case managers and therapists to help the clients transition to the work force.• Worked with clients to ensure the best job fit in order to increase the chance of success.• Helped graduating clients find transitional housing

• Worked with Oakland high school students in everyday activities; counseled residents with personal and academic problems; tutored students in English; led activities to give the students a chance to bond and have fun as they strive to achieve their goals.

• Worked with the Mills College Admissions Office to give tours of the campus to prospective students, family members, visiting professors and guests of the College.

• Interviewed, hired, trained and supervised other students; wrote articles and edited monthly newsletter; facilitated workshops on how to write resumes and cover letters.• Assisted students in all aspects of job and internship searches; responsible for maintaining current job database; worked with the Director in designing and implementing ways to improve services.

• Translated reports from Spanish to English in order to write articles about detrimental environmental activities in South America.• Encouraged readers of the magazine to write letters to their representatives about various environmental problems.• Assisted various teams within the department, including web, press, marketing, and campaigns, with communication projects that involved writing, online research, event planning, and other administrative duties.
