Provide care to critically ill, acutely ill, and acutely injured patients in pre-hospital and interfacility environments by ground, rotor wing, and fixed wing transport modes with a CAMTS accredited program, with focus on special patient populations such as ECMO, IABP, STEMI, stroke, and trauma. Care and treatment provided within the scope of practice established by standards and protocols established by the program’s Operational Medical Directors. Perform both invasive and non-invasive emergency procedures, such as advanced hemodynamic monitoring, rapid sequence endotracheal intubation, initiation of IO access, and cricothyrotomy. Responsible for carrying out the mission and goals of assuring that safety remains the highest priority throughout the transport continuum. Precept new hires as needed. Provide leadership as needed as a charge nurse.

Closely monitored acute conditions in critical care setting of an emergency department. Cared for and treated patients with chronic and acute health problems such as MI, arrhythmias, asthma, COPD and pneumonia. Delegated staff nurse duties. Collected blood, tissue and other laboratory specimens and prepared them for lab testing. Performed basic and advanced patient assessments. Demonstrated high standards of performance, including teamwork, communication and compassion. Precepted new hires in the emergency department as needed. Provided leadership as needed in the emergency department as a charge nurse.

Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the paramedic assessed patient conditions and reported changes to the registered nurse, obtained vital signs, performed blood draws, and initiated IV's. The paramedic also obtained 12-lead EKGs, kept patient rooms stocked with appropriate supplies and equipment, and transported telemetry patients on the cardiac monitor.

Duties included but were not limited to fire suppression in structural environments and providing advanced life support (ALS) emergency medical services under highly stressful emergency conditions. Additional responsibilities were fire prevention, public education, and vehicle/station maintenance performed under the supervision of a lieutenant, always focused on providing quality customer service.
