Student ambassador in the Texas Civic Ambassadors Program by New Politics Forum and the Moody College of Communications at UT Austin. A bipartisan group of students from college campuses across the State will serve as Texas Civic Ambassadors for one full academic year. Texas Civic Ambassadors are expected to conduct nonpartisan/bipartisan educational outreach activities on their campus or in their community. TCAs are provided with the most up-to-date information about the current state of civic life and will become leaders and innovators in driving the way we share information and engage every-day citizens in the vital work of self-governance.

As a young supporter of Texas Central's High Speed Rail project, I was given the opportunity to travel to Austin to testify against one of four specific house bills aimed to kill the HSR project. The bill I specifically prepared testimony against was HB 2163, which would require viaducts to be 40 feet high even though TxDOT only requires 20 ft rises. The 40 ft viaducts would cause a higher cost to Texas Central, an already privately funded project. I testified in the House Transportation Committee, along with a few other young individuals who support Texas Central. We were obviously the youngest people in the room. Following the hearing, I was interviewed by KBTX and had the wonderful opportunity to share how I feel about the great things High Speed Rail could offer to Texas.
