As Deputy Policy Director for WASPC, my primary work is in government relations and public policy as it relates directly to public safety in the State of Washington. In my role, I advise agency leaders, staff, and members on legislative, regulatory, and strategic policy issues. I also hold the responsibility to track, analyze, identify trends, and synthesize various state and national policy developments with the ultimate goal of advocating before lawmakers to encourage positive changes in state law. As an attorney, objective review of the law and purposeful policy reform is always front of mind. Throughout each legislative season and process, I remain committed to building relationships and ensuring all stakeholders and community members have a voice in the discussions surrounding each tenet of public safety, including through the tensions that involve policing practices, behavioral and mental health supports, criminal law reform, and many others.
