I mainly find myself working closely with the design team meeting business requirements or producing POCs. The projects can range from appending Elemental Server transcode profiles to writing bespoke integrate in NodeJs or adopting UHD to writing Ansible playbooks to automate the provisioning of infrastructure within OpenStack.

The supported platform orchestrates MAM or third-party content preparation for OTT VOD (ABR), STB VOD (Progressive Download), TX packaging and outgest workflows. It’s a java environment developed in-house implementing agile methodologies. I would therefore find myself sitting amongst a scrum team; for example I may present my findings on a defect having debugged some code or discussing implementation of a new feature. The position had me involved in all areas of the development lifecycle. Along with my colleagues, we would bridge a gap between development and operations; providing build pipelines, automation and infrastructure when required. In the absence of my line manager, I would act on his behalf; taking on the responsibilities that come with a managerial position. I commonly found myself conducting training sessions to aid the wider team.

Main duties include: MCR, Ensuring signals are routed correctly to provide a seamless transmission and being prepared to implement a backup plan in the event of technical issue. Upgrade, maintenance and installation of the technical infrastructure. Providing technical support to operational studios, ingest, MAM, QC, TX and post-production facilities 24*7*365. Later commissioned to be involved with the facility move. The work comprised of configuring play-out servers, edit suits, networks, archive library, near-line storage and RF distribution.

A range of live and prerecorded shows in a fast pace studio environment. I was responsible for maintaining a high quality studio output. Main duties include: MCR, scheduling media assets & studio feeds (UK & Spain) for broadcast, maintaining QC of transmission. Engineering tasks involved upgrading, maintaining and help installing new equipment within the studios. Technical Support was provided when living onsight to ensured the continuity and quality of the 24*7 channel. Other responsibilities also include racking, directing, operational roles and the training of new employees.
