I have extensive experience in executive leadership, public administration, and overseeing large (decentralized) operations, DEI and leadership training, program and project development and oversight. My professional strengths include critical thinking, strategic planning, clear communication, efficient multi-tasking, complex problem-solving, delivering excellent customer service, and effective leadership. I currently serve as the Assistant Director for the Human Services Department which includes oversight of 15 senior centers, senior programs, victim services, the Phoenix Family Advocacy Center and two General Obligation bond projects. In my previous role, I oversaw supervision of a thousand positions, 185 flat land parks, 32 recreation centers, 41,000 acres of mountain parks and preserves, 8 golf courses, 29 pools, 4 sports complexes, a $100 million-dollar operating budget and a $200 million multi-year Capital Improvement Program.A large portion of my work history includes community outreach and involvement, public programs, case management and social service referrals. My current role includes revitalizing neighborhoods through new parks and amenities, programming (virtual, in-person, recreation, sports, senior and special needs), special events, and enhancing existing parks. I also manage relationships and contracts with numerous non-profit and for-profit businesses to operate city-owned facilities. I have supervised employees for over 15 years and within that time I have addressed difficult disciplinary issues, worked to foster healthy work environments, develop leaders and supervisors, and created trainings and professional development opportunities. I have coordinated trainings on topics such as professional development, supervisory position expectations, report writing, and microaggressions and implicit bias. My professional experience also includes managing construction projects, consultants, contractors and contracts. I also have experience in regulatory compliance, grant funding, audit preparation and responses, executive reports, and policies and procedures development.In addition to serving on the executive team for two Phoenix mayors, my municipal management experience includes providing briefings to elected officials and advisory board members, addressing constituent and community issues and concerns, as well as, implementing municipal and federal policies. I have been able to successfully lead teams, implement innovative ideas, work towards social equity, create operational consistencies, and identify process improvements.
