Tracy Kontrelos is the Associate Publisher for Westword newspaper in Denver, Colorado. Raised in Houston, Tracy graduated from Southwest Texas University with a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications. Tracy wasted no time putting her skills and passion for the advertising world to work, and moved to Los Angeles where she landed a sales position with Baker Communications, Inc. Tracy was a constant top performer breaking sales records, winning many prestigious sales awards and creating and implementing successful new marketing and sales strategies for her clients in such publications as Beverly Hills (213) magazine, Newport beach (714) magazine, The Manhattan Beach Reporter, and The Palos Verdes Peninsula News. Tracy joined the Westword team in 1993 after relocating to Denver with her husband and has been trail-blazing within the publishing industry ever since. By developing unique digital and print advertising campaigns, orchestrating massive events with her team including Westword’s Artopia, DISH, and Westword Music Showcase, Tracy continues to be a key player in growing Westword as one of the most successful alt-weeklies in the country. Always involved in her community, and aside from her many volunteer events, Tracy is a long time member of the Downtown Denver Partnership and is also a board member of the Golden Triangle Partnership supporting the area’s many large and small businesses. When Tracy isn't managing the branding, sales and marketing teams in the Westword and V Digital Services office, she can be found competing in 10K’s, enjoying live music at any venue around town and hiking or cooking with her family.
