I trained as a nurse over 30 years ago and have worked clinically in a variety of settings, specialising in palliative and end of life care. During my career with Marie Curie, I moved into an education/practice development role, and have been involved in the development and delivery of a wide range of learning for clinical staff within the organisation and to a lesser extent to external organisations such as care homes. My main drive is to support and develop person-centred cultures to strengthen palliative and end-of-life practice. This includes providing mentorship, clinical supervision, guidance and support to promote best practice and wellbeing in a field of clinical practice that is sometimes stressful and highly emotive. The overall goal is that patients and families will receive truly person-centred care near the end of their lives and this has been my driving passion throughout my career.
