My inspiration for being a nurse came from my grandmother Darlene. She herself was a nurse, and I assisted with her care at the end of her life. I started my nursing career in a regional hospital within CVICU. I was fortunate to have great mentors and leadership that encouraged me to pursue my education further. After graduating with a MSN in Nursing Education, I worked in academy then transitioned to a hospital setting with Ascension. The Clinical Development Consultant was rewarding and I learned so much during my 2 years with St. Thomas. When a job opportunity opened closer to home in Lebanon I jumped on it and have assisted the hospital throughout transitions with various roles. Currently, I am in a QSRP role at Vanderbilt Wilson County Hospital and am actively working on projects with Leapfrog, Falls, Survey Readiness, Policytech, etc. I find process improvement very rewarding and am always stiving to progess. For us who Nurse, our Nursing is a thing, which, unless in it we are making progress every year, every month, every week, take my word for it we are going back. The more experience we gain, the more progress we can make…. Nursing is a progressive art such that to stand still is to go backwards. - Florence Nightingale
