Its holdings span Government, personal and community archives, significant First Nations material, and legal deposit publications. In addition. LANT supports over 30 public libraries across the Northern Territory.Prior to this appointment Tracy led the development of a new National Aboriginal Art Gallery in Alice Springs, a groundbreaking project that stands to deliver significant social, economic and cultural outcomes for Central Australia and beyond. The Gallery will open in 2027, and will be a new model of indigenous museology.From 2018-2021 Tracy held the position of General Manager Creative Arts and Cultural Services for the City of Launceston. In this role she was the Director of Queen Victoria Museum and Art Gallery (Australia’s largest regional cultural institution), where she took the organisation through a period of transformational change, and also led the development of the city’s inaugural cultural strategy.Notable positions Tracy has held in New Zealand include Director of the National Army Museum of New Zealand, Associate Director at the Museum of New Zealand (Te Papa), and Associate Chief Librarian at the Turnbull Library (National Library of New Zealand). During her time as Associate Director at Te Papa, she led the development of the iconic exhibition Gallipoli: The Scale of our War, which has smashed all exhibition attendance records in New Zealand.Tracy has also held a range of governance roles in Regional Tourism, Conservation, Heritage, and Archives, a number of which have been by Ministerial appointment, and has participated in a range of academic review panels. She is a well regarded international commentator on sector issues, and has been visiting Research Associate in Museum Studies at Taiwan National University since 2011.Tracy is a graduate of the highly competitive Getty Museum Leadership Institute, where she honed her passion for using values based models to drive positive change.
