The Healing NET Foundation began when a neuroendocrine cancer patient and the expert physician who treated her agreed that more doctors need up-to-date and accurate knowledge of neuroendocrine cancer and that all patients deserve to be seen by well-informed doctors. In 2013 Cindy Lovelace and Dr. Eric Liu co-founded The Healing NET Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)(3), to bring different perspectives together in collaboration to address gaps in education and awareness so patients can live longer lives and experience a better quality of life.

The Lupus Foundation of America is the largest nonprofit organization dedicated to finding the causes and cure for lupus, as well as providing support, services and hope to those affected by lupus. In my tenure, I have increased the impact of the Mid-South Chapter throughout its service area, toward greater patient and provider engagement, increasing local volunteer-led support groups. With my leadership, we improved name recognition from 23 percent to 70 percent over three years, becoming a resource for providers to engage their newly diagnosed patients. Our Chapter achieved Lupus Foundation of America’s first ever “Chapter of Excellence” designation. I led a team to develop the Chapter’s first outreach and services effort, providing evidence-based psychosocial services, fitness and nutrition self-guided programs, peer matching and one-on-one consultations. Our premier awareness and community-building event, the Walks to End Lupus Now, grew in financial sustainability, participation and reach, growing to eight cities in 2019. When COVID-19 necessitated a shift from in-person events, I created a weekly virtual education program that has served over 1,600 participants since May 2020. I development Lupus University, a curriculum to educate patients and their families on nutrition, stress reduction and disease management.

I created and led Vision3 Interactive Media, an internet consulting/development firm with a nationwide client base. Collaborated with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and corporate teams, to expand services and capacity of clients like United Way, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Saint-Gobain, CertainTeed, Applied Biosystems and Sunkist. Led teams that carefully developed then conscientiously crafted effective online marketing efforts and applications. Our team created diverse and powerful web-based applications such as custom e-commerce, screen-to-print publication development, fundraising management, crisis call intake, association/membership management and more.

I participated in development of cancer patient-facing content developed from expert interviews, patient testimonials and evidence-based strategies.

I guided the client service team of PearlPoint Cancer Support (formerly the Minnie Pearl Cancer Foundation) through a transformation of its service delivery model and led development of its innovative online portal, MyPearlPoint.org, including an evidence-based model for content that addresses literacy level and learning style. Forged partnerships with other national nonprofits to collaborate for mutual benefit and advancement of clinical research participation goals. Created and implemented new staffing and documentation model for client intake. Cemented relationships with healthcare and oncology experts to promote use of PearlPoint’s content and tools for education of their patients. I assisted with development of grant applications and cases for support for major donors and funders.

I developed and implemented successful legal seminar programs for human resources professionals, attorneys and accountants throughout Tennessee and Southern California, including creation of educational and marketing materials, expanding my employer’s reach to potential clients. I also supervised attorney recruiting for the law firm and developed and successfully implemented a plan to expand nationwide outreach to federal judicial clerks. I also led a team that created strategy, concepts, materials and collateral for corporate employee satisfaction campaigns.

I worked as part of a multidisciplinary team that developed and directed The 2000 Initiative, an effort to engage individual citizens, environmental groups, government and industry in dialogue and collaborative projects, and conducted on-site training throughout Tennessee. The program was nominated for an Environmental Protection Agency innovation award and served as a model for other states' efforts to breed cooperation among often-combative representatives. Additionally, my team created new and grew existing mechanisms to inform Tennessee's citizens about its natural resources and threats thereto, including Tennessee Conservationist Magazine and the public education efforts about toxic industrial releases. I developed the plan for Tennessee's comparative environmental risk assessment process that was used to evaluate the public health impact of toxic waste on citizens and the potential effects of public policy changes. For this project, I successfully wrote and managed a $100,000 grant, including a comprehensive public outreach and education plan.
