My professional journey began in 2020, shortly after graduating high school. Like many young adults, I found myself uncertain about my future. I didn’t have a clear idea of what I wanted to do, or even who I wanted to be. This led me to doubt my potential and worry that I would never find success. However, I did know two things: that I wanted to give back to the world more than I took from it, and that I needed to take action.It was after this realization that I made the most important decision of my life: To start my journey into higher education.This wasn't an easy decision for me. I grappled with self-doubt about my ability and battled social anxiety. Despite this, I realized that the threat of not meeting my full potential was far greater than my fears, and so I persevered.I decided to explore Information Technology after hearing about the numerous opportunities available in Southern Virginia. I enrolled as an IT student at Southern Virginia Higher Education and quickly discovered a passion for both technology and education through the amazing courses offered by the IT Academy. I feel incredibly fortunate to have found my calling early in my journey through college.My life took a significant turn when I was given the chance to work as a lab technician for the IT Academy. I soon realized how much I loved working with students and wanted to be more involved in their learning. It was rewarding to help them understand concepts that I had struggled with myself when I was a student.Now, I am proud to be a full-time instructor at the IT Academy, teaching a wide range of IT skills and concepts. There’s no greater joy for me than knowing I’ve made a positive impact on someone taking a leap of faith in their career. I hope I can be an example of how hard work and a positive mindset can take you to places you never thought you could go.Regarding my technical experience, I possess a diverse set of skills across various areas of IT, including but not limited to:1) Troubleshooting hardware-related issues, including POST failures and problems with CPUs, RAM, PSUs, and motherboards.2) Proficient in using and troubleshooting a variety of operating systems, including Windows, macOS, and various Linux distributions.3) Demonstrated proficiency with using and scripting within the Windows command line (Batch and PowerShell) and the Linux command line (Bash). 4) Excellent understanding of networking technologies and the ability to troubleshoot a variety of issues related to incorrect settings, faulty hardware, Wi-Fi, DNS, DHCP, and much more.
