Travis Rafferty is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Captain, a consumer-facing startup that launched in 2019. He is responsible for the overall direction and vision of the company. Rafferty leads operations, networking, investments and product development.Prior to joining Captain, Rafferty spent a decade in the food and beverage industry, where he started as a dishwasher as a young teenager. While working in the industry, Rafferty earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the College of Massachusetts-Amherst and a doctorate in law from the College of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.While in law school, Rafferty visited the Forrest Gump restaurant and found that color-coding table number signs was critical to improving communication between the customer and restaurant staff. Since then, Travis has worked with both restaurateurs and technology companies to improve communication between customers and staff.One of Travis' goals has always been to improve the communities in which he lives. Through his work at Centros Las Americas, he has spent a lot of time serving communities, and he believes Captain should serve its partners in a similar way.
