Solving problems in the financial arena using functional Scala.

Worked on a production team with software engineers learning all I can about the software development process. I was given the unique experience to discover the functional programming paradigm which gives a new outlook on programming.

My responsibilities at this job gave me my first look into the world of programming for the web. I have made adjustments to PHP and Perl programs as well as used MySQL databases. This job also gave me front-end experience in working with the Drupal content management system. I would provide routine updates, simple data entry, and helped in a core update that taught me a greater understanding of the Apache server structure.

The experience involved in teaching programming rather than learning it gave a way to expand my tool set in programming languages, team work, and mentoring. My responsibilities included making sure their programs are correct, explaining to them why they are or are not correct, and answering any questions that come.
