I worked for IT and the New Media department deploying automation servers and related equipment for ESPN's The Magazine and the Web site. I was instrumental in bringing online some of the new equipment including HP Blade Servers, Agility systems, Extreme switches and Isilon Network Attached Storage nodes. I supported editors with technical problems with hardware such as editing decks, mixers and all software applications including Adobe products, AVID and Edius systems as well as Apple's Final Cut Pro. I created several key pieces of Microsoft Office structured documentation for asset management as well as operating procedures. I was involved daily with roll outs of new editing stations based on the Windows and Macintosh platform. This was a contract position.

I was primarily responsible for installing Cat 5 wiring for Data and Voice applications. I installed very large networks ranging to over 500 drops in a 4 story building with MDF and IDF rooms on every floor. I worked with and tested fiber optic data runs. Terminated jacks and patch panels. Installing wire supports in accordance with all ANSI/TIA/EIA Standards. After the physical running of all network and telephony cable I would test the wiring with a MicroTest OMNI Scanner for a report we generated for the client to detail that all cabling was certified to ANSI/TIA/EIA specifications. I was a Low Voltage Electrician Apprentice while employed with the company. I started with Technology Revealed, owned by the same employer as Up To Code, and decided to move to the newly formed Up To Code Data Cabling when presented with the opportunity by the Owner.

I was involved with a wide variety of Apple Mac and general computer consulting, repair, ordering (custom configurations), and auditing of installed Mac or PC systems. This was a small business, but with a very impressive list of clients, was established over 8 years ago by the Owner and he had built up a reputation as a solid reliable source for Mac related business needs. Most clients included an installed base of 20 + Macs and a fairly complex network. I installed Raid Arrays to support large graphics files and setup DLT backup systems. Coming from the Pre-press industry my experience which included vast color correction knowledge proved to be a perfect match for me and his clients. A lot of knowledge in SCSI devices was required when I would go on site to troubleshoot and repair most of the mission critical work being done at the client’s locations.
