About Trevor Mcgrath

Hello there! First and foremost, I am an excited, nascent software developer who cannot wait to get out there and code. While my previous, 16-year career started in high school math education, it abruptly morphed into a combination of math and computer science when my principal asked for volunteers to teach two AP comp. sci. courses. Though my coding experience at the time was nearly nonexistent, I excitedly leapt at the opportunity to take on the new courses. Aside: while I've been into video games since the MS DOS days and a tech nerd since high school, my interest in programming started when I tinkered with custom smartphone ROMS in the days of early Android. Once the years as a teacher started to take their toll on my mental health, I knew I needed a change. I realized the best part of my days in the classroom was teaching my students how to program and helping them work through issues in their code. It dawned on me that the last 7 years spent teaching computer programming to high school students opened the door to an entirely new, challenging, awesome career path. Enter from stage right: Tech Elevator programming bootcamp!If my experience in the bootcamp means anything for my future, I will absolutely LOVE a job as a software developer. I am so excited to start the next chapter of my life working with a team of developers, knocking out challenges left and right, constantly learning new skills and having fun while we're at it!I'm happy to chat, so feel free to message me if you have any questions or want to connect.
