Helping out with the implementation of Microsoft 365 in Rochdale Borough Council.

Working across the ICT Delivery portfolio, I manage a team of project managers to implement effective solutions for multiple areas of the council. Many of these systems are directly customer facing, with a need to interact safely and securely with backend systems.Key highlights: - Successfully migrated the council and all users to Microsoft 365, adapting to cope with dramatic changes as staff moved to work from home, and demands on the council increased significantly. - Developed and implemented an innovative booking platform for leisure activities, using an open platform to enable council owned facilities and commercial, community, and resident led opportunities to reach residents in Manchester. - Updated the tools used to manage planning applications effectively, helping to ensure building work and development across the city is managed and controlled for the benefit of the residents.

As Senior Project Manager, I delivered a number of ICT projects in the Growth and Neighbourhoods directorate, while managing a varied team of project professionals. These projects improved services for members of the public across Manchester.

It's difficult to sum up this role in just a few words - because it seems to be a bit of everything! Running my own business has enabled me to help many more people by applying my project management skills, and develop my own business skills at the same time. It's also given me the freedom and autonomy to develop my own products and work for myself.In the time I've held this role, I've completed major procurements, played a part in the launch of a new national body, including the business change management needed to merge three organisations, and even found myself changing photocopier toner once again... In this short term (3 month) contract, I managed the crucial final stages of an information security programme of work to ensure the organisation's re-certification to use the Public Sector Network. This will allow the client to continue to access the PSN, which enables them to use services unlocking considerable cost savings. This role covered a wide range of security related projects, ranging from upgrading SSL implementations on websites, up to the installation of new infrastructure. I also managed the production of the certification documentation to the required standard. In addition, I managed the project delivering the rollout of a mobile device management system to increase the security of handsets and tablets in use by staff members.

In this role, I successfully ensured Property Services staff across the North region had access to the corporate systems of the new business from day one, meaning they could meet the challenges of the NHS changes. This involved negotiating with numerous IT suppliers for connectivity and desktop support across hundreds of sites.Moving forward, I worked to migrate Property Services data from legacy provider networks over to their own network, giving them a robust, powerful, and reliable common desktop experience across the region. This will enable Property Services to continue to focus on delivering high quality environments for health care.

Working as a consultant, I helped Bolton Council procure and implement a new print solution across their entire estate, to deliver cost savings and new facilities.

Carried out a study to determine the feasibility of implementing mobile working for Adult and Community Services staff.

Brought in to project manage the team that created the new ICT platform for the new organisation. This involved managing the delivery of a new infrastructure in an environment of significant business change. This included building the server, desktop and communications infrastructure to support 550 users, including a number of helpline staff.
