Trine Stausgaard Munk has worked with cities and clients across the world to address complex issues of climate resilience and sustainability through integrated planning, including Copenhagen, New York City and Washington D.C. Mrs. Munk works closely with stakeholders and decision-makers, both directly, through co-facilitating city-to-city partnerships or providing specialist knowledge through networks, such as C40 Cities. Mrs. Munk manages multidisciplinary projects and teams addressing complex water-related issues and has worked with water management in both developed and developing countries. Mrs. Munk’s expertise lies especially within operationalizing the components of climate risk and sustainability, as well as facilitating critical conversations on how to build actions addressing the risk components, how to build the business case for resilience and sustainability, and how to identify the optimum safety level for a given city, area or project. Mrs. Munk is leading several innovation projects and business development initiatives with key stakeholders, including but limited to UMass Boston, Danish Technical University, University of Copenhagen, and USACE to contextualize aspects such as climate justice, added value in integrated planning and climate adaption, and operationalization of sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in water management and urban planning practices and processes.Additionally, Mrs. Munk was the project manager for the Cloudburst Resiliency Planning Studies with NYCDEP, the coastal resiliency plan for DOEE and the Copenhagen Urban Labs focusing on capacity building and innovation within resilience, sustainability and urban planning. Mrs. Munk's technical competencies are coupled with a strong interdisciplinary socio-economic profile including advanced analytical and communication skills, along with stakeholder engagement and workshop development and facilitation. Mrs. Munk has a strong engagement to the water sector, both professionally as well as personally, both nationally and internationally. In 2014 she founded the Danish chapter of Young Water Professionals under IWA, for which she received the national initiative price of the Danish water sector in 2016. She sits on the Strategic Council of IWA, co-established and co-leads the IWA Task Force on SDGs and sits on the program committee for the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition in Copenhagen 2020, as she did for the 2018 edition in Tokyo.
