As Associate General Counsel at a North American specialty-trades subcontractor, I was primarily responsible for providing legal advice and business guidance to the company's Canadian subsidiary (Brock Canada), and I supported the company's General Counsel in similar fashion within Brock's US divisions. In this capacity, I evaluated, negotiated, and drafted various corporate/transactional documents, including complex specialty industrial service contracts, commercial leases, and the like; I negotiated and resolved disputes with the company's clients and suppliers; I directed, coordinated with, and oversaw the company's outside counsel; I supported HR with internal complaints and investigations; I developed and refined corporate policies which promote ethical conduct, including issues related to privilege; and I provided general consultation to top-tier management on the legal issues which impacted the day-to-day operations of a company with over $1 billion in annual revenue.

The matters I handled spanned a broad range of topics and disciplines, including residential and commercial construction defect (developers, general contractors, design professionals), real estate, transportation, and professional liability. In this capacity, I garnered first-chair trial experience (including winning an outright defense verdict and cost-recovery for a roofing-products manufacturer in a six-figure jury trial in Grand County, CO). My family and I relocated to Colorado to open the firm's first office east of the Rockies, which grew from two attorneys to seven attorneys in seven years.
