Guided by her belief that successful financial advising is based on relationships as opposed to transactions, Patricia Barnes, Founder of Maine Advisory Associates, has thrived in the investment and financial services world for the past 28 years. Her diverse experience, education and empathy empower her relationship-building. She has an undergraduate degree in English and Anthropology and an MA in TEFL, and, after 16 years of teaching at the high school and university levels in the US and abroad, Trish found she had a passion for educating people about how money works. Raising her two boys as a single mother, she came to understand that, without help, most people don’t discover how to secure their financial futures. She founded Maine Advisory Associates in 2006 to help others reach their financial goals and dreams. After losing her son, Kevin, to epilepsy, she also became an epilepsy advocate and has currently raised $300,000 for epilepsy research. In addition, she serves as an advisor on the Epilepsy Foundation’s investment subcommittee.
