The INAS Global Games is the worlds premium event for athletes with an intellectual disability. From the 12 - 19 October 2019, Brisbane will welcome 1000 international athletes all competing to achieve excellence in their sport and in some cases pave their way to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. As a champion of inclusive cities, Brisbane City Council is a principal partner in the event. My role is to co-ordinate cross council support for the games. Working closely with the event hosts, the Global Games Sports Company, our aim to ensure that the games deliver inclusive opportunities and legacies whilst continuing to position Brisbane as a major events city.

The Protocol and Civic Events Team, is responsible for all aspects of the planning and delivery of official Lord Mayoral Events. Given the high profile and often sensitive nature of these events and their political visibility, they require a high level of attention to detail and meticulous planning. It is imperative that, as representatives of the Lord Mayor, the work out of this area is consistently of the very highest quality. This team operates in a high pressure, dynamic environment with an extremely wide range of high profile internal and external stakeholders, often with competing interests. As Manager of this area, I report directly to the Branch Manager of the Lord Mayor’s Administration and liaise on a daily basis with the Lord Mayor’s Office as well as other Chairs and Councillors, external stakeholders including the State Government and local community groups.

Responsibility for the performance and delivery of Councils Risk Management and Insurance Delivery. This 6 month opportunity will see the role out of a new Risk and Audit as a Service Platform, the management of the tender for the next 6 years of insurance claims management as well as related process streamlining and enhancement.

The Manager of the Lord Mayor’s Administration is responsible for managing the Lord Mayor’s Administration office, encompassing the Lord Mayoral Correspondence Team, The International Relations and Multicultural Affairs Team, The Protocol and Civic Events Team and Executive Services Unit which administers the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust

The International Relations and Multicultural Affairs team at Brisbane City Council is widely acknowledged by peers as a benchmark team in terms of delivering tangible, economic, cultural and social outcomes through its international relations program. Reporting to the Manager for International Relations, this position is responsible for managing a team to deliver and develop Councils international relations program and ensuring the program delivers benefits to its’ customers- the residents and businesses of Brisbane. Essentially this area has responsibility for justifying the Lord Mayor’s International Relations Program and is hence very outcome focused. Fundamental to success in this role is the capacity to navigate the myriad of stakeholders and the establishment of healthy relationships with other government agencies.

The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) is a world-class purpose-built venue renowned for its operational and service excellence. The BCEC is managed by leading international venue management specialists, AEG Ogden.Uniquely, the BCEC International Team leads and manages the international bidding for international conventions on behalf of the city. Through strategic co-investment with local, national and international clients, the centres international team assists with bid strategy, development and execution whilst simultaneously positioning the city of Brisbane and its relevant strengths. This role was responsible for the development and delivery of bid strategy across all areas including; international liaison and collaboration; coordination and hosting of international client visits; management of local bid committees; design and production of all bid related materials and communications; lobbying of international decision makers and influencers.The team work closely with multiple external stakeholders and are responsible for the delivery of tangible economic and strategic outcomes to the city and relevant stakeholders.
