While working at SMPA, I have gained a multitude of invaluable experience dealing with how I interact with communities, as well as understanding the corporate workplace. This job has been different from some of my past jobs, as I am able to see more of what goes into the operation of a large athletic facility, and some of the obstacles that must be overcome to service the community to the fullest extent.I have been in charge of managing the various leagues and tournaments held at the Tennis Center, and in that time I have gained a lot of knowledge about how to approach sports programming and event planning.

At USA Ultimate, I volunteer as an event coordinator, where I organize and plan the post-season events for the collegiate club ultimate programs in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Louisiana.While this position is only a volunteer position, I have gained a lot of invaluable experience that directly benefits me in my future job searches. I have learned how to more effectively communicate digitally with a large range of people, and I have learned how to work on a project-based schedule. It is satisfying every year to attend a successful event that has been nearly a year in the making.

In my time at the Yarbrough Tennis Center, I got to experience what it was like to work in a city Parks and Recreation department. After working this position, I realized that I really enjoyed the work that was done in a Parks department, and it made me realize that a job in this field would suit me well. As a child, I benefited from the availability of recreational programs provided to me through my local Parks and Recreation facility. I am grateful for the opportunities given to me back then, and I hope that one day I will be able to provide those same opportunities that were afforded to me to other children.
