I am currently entering my 21st year of teaching as an Intervention Specialist. I have worked with students in grades k-12 in five different school districts (Teays Valley, Chillicothe City, Noble Academy, Imagine and Columbus City Schools). I became a teacher after receiving my Bachelor's in Computer Science a semester before graduation. To work till graduation I started substitute teaching in a special education setting. I then applied and received my temporary licensure to teach special education in the school I graduated from, Teays Valley High School. I started teaching as I was attending school to earn my master's degree as an Intervention Specialist. After seven years of teaching I received my five year professional licensure. I have taught many different resource rooms including resource math classes, resource science classes and a resource room computer class. I have also been involved in the inclusion and team teaching (Co-Teaching) setting. I have experience with giving an alternate assessment and the documentation that comes along with the alternate assessment. I am up to date with IEP guidelines and try to attend professional development on the writing of proper IEPs every year. When not having IEP glances on the Special Education software used at the school, I have created an IEP summary that is given to the teachers for their students which gives them all the information they need on one page. I am currently looking to take classes to obtain additional licensure (considering multiple areas) and endorsements.I have also been a coach for 13 years. I have coached both wrestling and football in grades 7-12. For three years I was the Head Wrestling Coach at Chillicothe High School where I was building up a struggling program. As for experience in both those sports, I was a collegiate wrestler at Mount Union College and I played football from 3rd to 12th grade. My most recent wrestling head coaching position was for Dublin Jerome High School from 2014-2016. I am currently taking a break from coaching to spend time with my young girls.I have taught at three different schools in the Columbus City Schools and although I have enjoyed multiple aspects of my job, I am looking at other schools within the district as well as outside the Columbus City Schools. I do realize that with 21 years experience it will be difficult to be hired close to my current experience, but with that experience comes years of knowledge that make me so good at my job. I am willing to interview with districts within 30 minutes of the Dublin, OH area.
