As the founder and Managing Director of Bright Java Coffee, I have been leading the discovery and export of high quality specialty coffee from Indonesia for eight years. My mission is to empower producers to obtain greater value from their labor and to promote sustainable and ethical practices in the coffee industry. I have established and maintained strong relationships with farmers, cooperatives, roasters, and distributors.. With a focus on excellence and continuous process improvement I deliver of reliable traceable quality coffee to customers in 7 countries.My passion and proficiency for specialty coffee is complemented by my background in project management, logistics, and supply chain management, as well as my leadership skills. Prior to launching Bright Java Coffee, I served for 20 years in the US Marines, where I engaged in project management as an operations research analyst, performed economic and business case analyses of over 40 programs, mentored 70 Afghan National Army senior leaders, coordinated complex operations budgeted in the millions of dollars, and served as a logistics manager and fleet manager of over $9M in equipment. I have formed and led cross-cultural and cross-functional teams all over the world to get results. I also have a strong analytical and research mindset, as evidenced by my publications and awards in the field of operations research and systems analysis.
