A well respected citizen, a top selling fine jeweler with a loyal following, published author. He is also an avid reader, gardener, swimmer and collector of fine arts. His home in the Indiana dunes built for a late Pulitzer Prize winning author is the site of an Indiana Historic Marker; A project he spearheaded and guided from 2007-2009. As the longest serving President of the board of the Indiana Jewish Historical Society from 2003-2009 he initiated their first World Wide Website, their Irma Rosenthal Frankenstein Distinguished Service Award, and an Honorary Board of 40 nationally famous Hoosiers with connections to the Indiana, Nobel Prize laureates etc. His first inventory for Indiana's Jewish experience, community by community was borrowed by the DNR and the Indiana DNR for their Indiana Jewish Heritage Survey in 2007. Trent's personal papers have been collected by the Indiana Historical Society and the Calumet Regional Archives (Indiana University Northwest). His history exhibits at the Indiana Welcome Center were viewed by thousands and have traveled around the state, several were awarded state or local grants. His "The Jewish History of the Indiana Dunes Country 1830-1950" sold out. His historical fiction, Toys in the Closet was released in 2015 and the sequel, Lewry Lurie, should be out in 2022.Trent has served on the board of directors of UJA, JNF, Hillel-Arizona State University, The Sylvia Plotkin Judaica Museum, The Greater Crown Point Chamber of Commerce (Varsity Club Award), The Northwest Indiana Open Housing Center, The Indiana Jewish Historical Society (Life Past President), Jewish Federation of Northwest Indiana, Temple Beth El in Odessa, Texas and Temple Israel, Gary, Indiana. He has also served in positions with the ADL, AJC and B'nai B'rith.
