Trung Bao Nguyen is a multidisciplinary Vietnamese artist and leading vocal experimentalist. He is also the founder of Fustic. Studio is an acclaimed creative studio originating from Vietnam. At the heart of his artistic endeavors lies the innovative Voice Gems project - a bespoke generative system that harnesses the distinctive qualities of the human voice to create digital gemstones and physical sculptures of unparalleled uniqueness. Trung Bao's work resides at the dynamic crossroads of technology and art, where sound intertwines with imagery.Trung Bao has an extraordinary vocal range, pushing the boundaries of vocal expression. He was the first Vietnamese participant, winner, and jury member in major international vocal experimentation events. Drawing from diverse cultures, he developed unique sounds inspired by Vietnamese language. His mastery of oral percussion and captivating performances have earned over 80 million online views, establishing him as a pioneer in experimental vocalism.In 2018, Trung Bao collaborated with acclaimed world-music guitarist Nguyen Le, Vietnamese traditional multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Ngo Hong Quang to create the groundbreaking "Overseas" concert. This unique musical experience blended Vietnamese traditions with jazz, rock, hip-hop, reggae, and electronica. It premiered at the Musée des Confluences in Lyon, France, and later wowed audiences in Berlin, Germany, and Vietnam's top venues. Trung Bao and Ngo Hong Quang also collaborated on "Nam Nhi," a remarkable fusion of Quan Họ music, classical strings, and hip-hop elements, showcasing Trung Bao's vocal percussion.Trung Bao’s fascination with the human voice led him to explore its creative potential through technology and design. He partnered with UK artist Reeps100 to develop a 200,000-particle system that uses unique vocal characteristics to generate digital gemstones and physical sculptures. This project aims to transform voices from ephemeral to tangible, digitally preserving them for the next millennium. Together, they curated the 1000-Year VOICE GEMS ARCHIVE, featuring unique and vulnerable voices, including Ai Wei Wei, Dr. Jane Goodall, Sir Geoff Hurst, and more. The archive also includes AI synthetic voices, voices of endangered species, and collaborations with institutions like The World Economic Forum and National Geographic. In recognition of his innovative work, Trung Bao was named to Forbes’ 30 under 30 Vietnam list in 2020.

It bridges cultural divides between Trung Bao and the Vietnamese H’mong ethnic minority, highlighting Vietnam’s diverse heritage and cultural intersectionality.     ‘Overseas’ is a multidisciplinary performance program, featuring the participation of many Vietnamese artists, commissioned by the Confluences Museum in Lyon, France. As the name suggests, "Overseas" is a convergence of different creative currents, carrying the Vietnamese spirit both within and beyond the nation's borders. The name "Overseas" was chosen to imply the harmonious combination and integration of contrasting elements, indicating a return to diversity and unity after division, synthesis after differentiation, and the integration between sky and earth. Premiering at the Musée des Confluences in Lyon, 'Overseas' subsequently toured various cities including Berlin, Germany, as well as the Hanoi Opera House and the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House in Vietnam.The project is a collaboration between Nguyen, Tuan Le, Vietnamese ethnic music artist Ngo Hong Quang (Vietnam/Netherlands), beatboxer Trung Bao (Vietnam/United States) Alex Tran and Illya Amar (France).
