•Provided specialised MHPSS services to the districts of Gulu, Agago and Pader which were the project’s operation areas. This was through groups and individuals working closely with the district structures. •Provided mentorship, timely and focused technical support to eight (8) task-shifted social workers who in turn provided support to community structures most notably the Village Health Teams. •Designed and facilitated MHPSS training and ongoing supervision to build the capacity of field staff and district structures to deliver quality MHPSS services, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic period where I trained and supervised district staff in Northern Uganda and Karamoja regions.•Trained and supervised the application and implementation of Problem Management Plus (PM+) both individual and group by the task-shifted social workers. •Conducted team building and staff wellness activities for the project staff due to the sensitivity of the work. This was to avoid stress and vicarious trauma while also enabling the team to grow in understanding and practicability of the psychological intervention concepts and their application. •Developed and implemented feasible ways to handle addiction clients within the districts of operation working closely with the district hospitals and also emphasising and strengthening follow-up even after their discharge. •Contributed to project design and reporting processes providing technical input.

•Mastered the delivery of group CBT-T to communities and built capacities of task-shifted staff (social workers and clinical interns) on the UNHCR (ten staff), CORDAID (three staff), and UNWOMEN (three staff) projects in the Arua field office(Rhino camp, Omugo settlement, Imvepi settlement and Lobule settlement) on the delivery of CBT-T, PFA, case management/ referral system of TPO Uganda and use of clinical tools for assessment of clients. There was a demonstration of knowledge among these different staff on the screening exercise and the ability to administer the tools to the clients ethically and run groups. •Conducted MHPSS, PFA, and PSS training to health workers, community structures and other organisations. There was a knowledge increment evidenced by the increase in the number of referrals made to clients to access mental health services of TPO Uganda by these service providers.•Conducted team building and staff wellness activities for the project staff due to the sensitivity of the work. This was to avoid stress and vicarious trauma while also enabling the team to grow in understanding and practicability of the psychological intervention concepts and their application. •Development of age-appropriate, culturally sensitive and uniform awareness messages for all project staff to use when carrying out awareness raisings or psycho-educative sessions in the communities through radio talk shows, IEC materials and national platforms.

•Provided group therapy under the supervision of well-trained and specialised clinical psychologists to LRA war trauma victims and survivors, learning more about the psychological effects of trauma and how individuals and communities cope during traumatic events and in the aftermath.•Improved understanding of community dynamics and working with different and new cultures. This experience helped me gain experience in providing psychotherapy services with the aid of a translator. •Development of skills in timely report writing and clinical group sessions through the guidance of the clinical team in the organisation.

The apprenticeship role availed the opportunity to provide space to practice and learn, some of the roles included providing psychotherapy to patients both in and outpatients and writing evaluation report findings and recommending changes to enhance the patient recovery experience.•Conducted clinical consultations across a wide range of ages.•Achieved measurable improvement of most clients' issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief and loss, relationship issues, phobias, addictions and other behavioural problems.•Experienced an increase in the number of clients due to referrals and performed family mediation where needed.

As a community psychologist intern, I was tasked with assessing both inpatients and outpatients of the mental health ward (Ahumuza ward) and also providing counselling services and follow up of their different clients during the hospital outreach activities to foster sustainable recovery and adherence to their psychotropic medications. The hospital serves a great part of the southwest population of Uganda.
