Since my Freshman year in high school, I have worked and volunteered as a math tutor for youth of many ages, including my peers in high school and elementary school aged students. By working with the same elementary student for multiple consecutive years, I have been able to witness growth in skill, and have learned how to teach math in effective and understandable ways. While tutoring my peers, I have learned patience and understanding, as well as strategies for teaching people of my own age. Overall, tutoring has taught me a great deal of interpersonal skills, and has even refreshed my academic skills. I plan to continue this tutoring as a college student!

Nine week session over the summer working as camp Counselor-In-Training at an outdoor adventure camp. Skills included: -how to lead a multi-night backcountry trip -how to safely belay campers and facilitate climbing activities -how to effectively and safely manage kids while still making activities fun -how to work closely with my peers in a 24/7 professional environment -how to manage having very little time off over a long period of time This job required a high level of self-discipline, as many days began as early as 3:45 am, in order to lead campers of all ages to summit 14-thousand foot mountains. Because plans often had to be shifted or improvised, it demanded creativity, high levels of energy, and flexibility when problem solving. This job also allowed me to apply my previously learned commercial kitchen caretaking skills.
