Partner Account Manager, EmeaTasktop Technologies Aug 2016 - Aug 2019Reading, United KingdomI worked with our partners in Europe, Asia, Middle East and Africa, to connect their customers' value streams*. I identified what is needed for the partnership network to be successful in selling Tasktop Integration Hub (Tasktop's main software product) and delivered enablement and resources accordingly. I also worked with Tasktop's OEM partners such as IBM, Micro Focus, and Tricentis. In each interaction I focussed on doing the right thing by the customer, and the partner relationship. Very occasionally would conflicts of interest arise which I dealt with proactively and keeping everyone informed.*A value stream means a service, or a product, that they can sell; for example a piece of software. To be a successful software company, you need to (1) know what your customers want or need, and what they are happy to pay for; and(2) sort, analyse, and articulate the customers' needs in such a way that the request can be put into the software; and(3) make changes to the software code; and(4) test the changes; and(5) demo the new software to the customer as you code and test; and(6) deliver the new software to the customer; and(7) charge the customer; and(8) know when something breaks, identify, fix, and communicate the fix, and(9) ideally do all the above very quickly, in any order, and keep everyone informed at the same time.(10) And that's why you need Tasktop. -

Demonstrator (Undergraduate Experiments)University Of Cambridge Oct 2009 - Dec 2010I helped second year undergraduates with electronics experiments; it was a "floorwalker" role, with 8-10 students to be looked after on average. The course took eight weeks, with 6-hour sessions once a week. Additionally, the role included marking the students' work weekly. -
Student RecruiterUniversity Of Jyväskylä Sep 2008 - May 2009FinlandAs a student recruiter, I travelled to high schools (ages 13-19) in Finland and advertised Physics studies of the University of Jyvaskyla. I helped individuals increase their interest in physics, and shared information and experience about the University application procedure. -
Research AssistantUniversity Of Jyväskylä May 2007 - May 2009Jyväskylä, FinlandTwo years into my physics studies, I joined an experimental research group called Molecular Technology (MolTech). MolTech was part of a multi-disciplinary Nanoscience Centre at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. The Centre was home to researchers from physics, chemistry and biology. My original ambitions were to specialise in theoretical physics, but once I set my foot inside a ‘real’ laboratory I fell in love. The rest of my physics career focussed on experimental and applied physics. The MolTech group researched carbon nanotube (CNT) based electronics, and their potential use in field effect transistors. It was my responsibility to develop and maintain the software code (LabVIEW) that was used in almost all of MolTech’s group experiments. The code that I was responsible for was composed of virtual instruments, such as virtual oscilloscopes and filters. It controlled an electronic circuit that was used to study physical properties of carbon nanotubes. These properties included source-drain voltage; current on/off ratios; and breakdown of dielectrics between CNTs and electrodes. My role was part-time during terms as I was also a full-time student. During the university holidays I worked full-time. I learnt the first lessons in how important communication between team members is. As the group’s main software developer, I had to make sure that everyone’s requirements were taken into account, analysed and prioritised; and finally implemented, documented, and communicated to the rest of the group. The Nanoscience Centre at Jyväskylä promoted cross-team collaboration, and I constantly learnt about other groups’ research in the Centre’s coffee room. I was invited to visit other laboratories in the Centre and learnt novel ways to how to use cleanroom instruments. Informal teaching and mentoring between people is vital for innovation. I have found that I learn not only by doing and reading, but most effectively from discussions with others. -
Tutor And Course AssistantUniversity Of Jyväskylä Sep 2008 - Feb 2009Jyväskylä, FinlandI helped first year undergraduates solve physics problems in an introductory course. The role also involved a "mentoring" aspect, as many lived alone for the first time. As part of this, I helped to build the students' independence, and their ability to cope in a new environment.
