The most significant takeaway from my experience in the warehouse is the importance of efficiency and organization. I learned that careful planning and attention to detail are crucial for smooth inventory management. Every part and item has its place in the warehouse, and any problem with the placement of items can cause inefficiencies and delays. Problem solving was a very important part of my role. If it was dealing with discrepancies in inventory counts, maximizing storage space, or making the work flow go faster, I consistently was challenged with issues that required creative solutions. During the internship, I made decisions with ethics constantly at the front of my mind. I understood the value of honesty and integrity in the context of inventory management where precision is key. I made sure to thoroughly follow the guidelines of verifying inventory counts twice and reporting any discrepancies right away. My contribution to the organization was to actively participate in process improvement initiatives, suggesting ways to improve inventory and warehouse storage, enhance order fulfillment accuracy, and minimize waste. Time management was one of the skills I greatly improved while working in the warehouse. During the time where the builders were busy with their projects and didn’t need anymore parts, I would start to pull the parts for the same build for the next day to get ahead and mainly focus on the new shipment of inventory that would be coming in. I improved my output and more successfully supported the goals of the company by improving this ability. One aspect that needs to get better is communication. While I was proficient in collaborating with the team, I recognized the importance of effective communication across departments and hierarchy of levels.
