Worked the 2024 summer for the Summer Internship Program at Rocky Mountain Laboratories in Montana for the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. I worked with a group of researchers in the Biology of Vector-Borne Illnesses to understand more about the protein pathways of the more recently discovered tick-borne illness: Jingmen Tick Virus (JMTV). I learned how to operate in a BSL2 laboratory, refine my cell cultures, learn many new techniques such as plasmid purification and protein transfection, and got trained in confocal microscopy. I was also the coordinator for the 2024 RML summer student symposium and presented my summer research.
