My name is Tyler Hurst and combining creativity with sports is what drives me. From early days of designing uniforms and stadiums in video games, to creating the largest Northwestern Wildcats sports fan page on Instagram, it almost seems destined I would pursue a career in the sports media industry.I am a junior attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I am originally from my hometown of Glenview, Illinois, a suburb seven miles north of Chicago. At UNL, I am a first-generation college student double majoring in sports media and communication and advertising and public relations. I am also pursuing a minor in psychology.My primary position on campus is working with the Creative Media Department for Nebraska Football. I am responsible for creating graphic content and capturing photos at games, practices, workouts, recruiting visits and other team activities for @huskerfootball social media accounts, an audience of 855k+ across all platforms.Additionally, I serve as an ambassador for the College of Journalism and Mass Communications, where I assist in recruiting efforts through tours, events, mentorships and other related activities. I am also the Social Media Coordinator/Primary Programmer for UNL's Sports Media Club at CoJMC. I have won my college's annual student apparel design content in consecutive years and also designed the logo for the 2023 Perry Photo Challenge, a photography scholarship competition within CoJMC.In Summer 2023, I was the Team Photographer/Social Media Intern for the Lincoln Saltdogs of the American Association of Professional Baseball, a partner league of the MLB. I was responsible for capturing photos at all 50 home games, uploading content (both during and outside of games) and designing graphics for Saltdogs social media platforms.I also have past experience working with the Paducah Chiefs, a summer collegiate baseball team, where I managed the team's social media and created the entirety of graphics during the Summer of 2022. I have also done work for Lake Forest college football, an NCAA division three team of Chicagoland, where I created recruiting-related graphics content, as well as stationery material for the team.I have a solidified understanding of sports design and a high standard of work, something I try to convey in every design or piece of content I create. I have a proficient understanding in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, with a foundational understanding in Illustrator, Premiere Pro, InDesign, RStudio and Cinema 4D.
