I am responsible for running the Continuous Improvement program for the Beloit site. In this role, I lead various focus improvement teams, Kaizen events, implement Lean principles, and conduct data synthesis to lead the site to better performance. This role impacts every department within the site and involves working collaboratively with vendors/contractors and others at the corporate level. My projects have netted several million dollars in savings over the past few years, as well as improved line efficiencies across the plant.

Janesville/Beloit, Wisconsin Area

As Maintenance and Sanitation Manager, my main duties center around keeping plant downtime to a minimum through an effective preventative maintenance program, robust sanitation schedule, and well-trained technicians. I manage a budget of over $3.2MM across over a dozen accounts.To push my departments forward, I work with a variety of vendors to ensure that we are using the best technologies for our business. This includes parts for mechanics as well as chemicals for the sanitation team. Within this same sphere, I work to make sure my techs all receive relevant training for their job tasks. I also spend a lot of time doing cross-department work, particularly with Finance, Engineering, Quality, Production, and Safety to ensure the success of the plant.Through this time, I also led my team through the transition from Diamond Foods to Snyder's-Lance. This required implementing new processes in inventory management including a new software system, INFOR. My team helped launch the Cape Cod product line at our facility, which was praised as the fastest launch of that product at any facility in the company.I also retained my role as manager of the site's training program, which continues to grow and remain as the standard for the rest of the company.

Janesville/Beloit, Wisconsin Area

As the Process Improvement Manager, I was involved in all aspects of the business. I worked primarily with Production, ensuring we exceed our production goals in pound attainment, packaging efficiency, and quality. To achieve these goals, I performed Kaizen events, time study analyses, and lots of data synthesis.I worked closely with the Quality department, leading two teams which helped drive out 60% of total customer complaints. I received HACCP and SQF certifications, which allowed me to act as an SQF practitioner. As such, I helped lead the site in achieving the highest SQF rating possible for two consecutive years. One of the teams that I led was tasked to investigate our largest customer complaint issue, oily product. As leader of the team, I was able to take out over half of the total customer complaints from that area. This required working with scientists from DOW Agro Sciences, our R&D team, reading technical books, and review patents to find a long term solution. I also worked on a team which investigated our 2nd most frequent customer complaint, seasoning consistency, and helped reduce those complaints by over 60%.I worked with Engineering on capital improvement projects, including identifying Engineering needs and helping see projects to fruition as well as understanding how to use equipment effectively and sharing that knowledge with all staff.In May of 2015, I was given the responsibility to manage one salaried employee as a site training coordinator. My responsibility, in addition to those outlined above, was to organize and implement a more effective training program at the site. This process started with our hourly employees and grew to include all salaried staff. Site training includes monthly safety training, job-specific training plans, Lean 6-Sigma training for our leadership teams, and food safety certifications (SQF, HACCP) for certain individuals. The training program was hailed by our SVP of Ops as the best in the company.

Portland, Oregon Area

As the Processing Supervisor, I managed a shift at two different facilities; one in Salem, Oregon and the other in Beloit, Wisconsin. At the Salem plant, I managed teams of 50+ people each on first and third shift. My responsibility was to lead the shift and maintain consistency day-to-day. In this job function, I worked closely with HR to ensure all employees were treated fairly during all disciplinary acts, with Quality to ensure all product was made to specification, and Safety. In this role, I helped the site achieve records for pounds, quality (defined as complaints per million bags produced), and safety.
