I began my path in the Retail Industry as a Stock Clerk for Shoppers Drug Mart in my home town of Moncton, New Brunswick in 2011. In 2012, there was an opportunity to join The North West Company in Waskaganish, Quebec with my wife, Samantha Capson as Stock Clerks. We had packed the car with our belongings and moved to Waskaganish where we stayed with the Grocery Manager and Produce Supervisor. We had no formal interview with the company, we simply “up and moved”, if you will. We were hired on at an hourly rate. After only one month we were both offered Supervisor positions. We continued to grow within the company from there, eventually taking on the titles of Department Managers, all while having wonderful trainers along the way. We have helped close a location, open a brand new store in Fort Albany and also renovate an existing location at Kashechewan. We have also been a major role in the renovation of another store in Attawapiskat. We have turned numerous stores around, not only in the growth of the store, but also by building long-lasting relationships with the communities we serve for many years to come. We’re now both considered as Training Managers and have trained numerous successful Store Managers, Department Managers and Department Supervisors. Fast forward to the present and I am currently on my 11th year as a Grocery Manager. I have so many amazingly wonderful people along the way. I’ve learned a lot since beginning this journey and I have the pleasure of learning new things every single day. From grocery merchandising to general merchandise, cashier training, financial office training, post office operations, fuel management, customer service, community relations and support, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, water treatment, grounds keeping , warehouse organization and management, garbage disposal, freight hauling, logistics, and so much more. There is no challenge that I will pass up, and when I set my mind to something - it gets done.
