I serve as the face of DevMountain to our students. My primary role might be considered giving lectures, i.e. taking our curriculum and turning it into digestible bits, but as I study education techniques and observe our students' learning, I'm seeing my real roles are 1) provide tangible and practical knowledge, especially as it applies to real world software development, 2) be willing to get out of the students' way when appropriate (meaning do what works for them, not what works for me), and 3) cheerlead for the students, who are taking the risk of changing their lives.I manage between 16-24 students at a time and a few mentors. Our curriculum is amazing, especially considering the hindrance that it must evolve as fast as our industry. We need people on the ground to respond to these challenges when implementing the curriculum, adapting as the days unfold. My goal is to make the Phoenix campus worthy of emulating. While many of our students will work across the nation or abroad, I'm proud to send prepared students into the local workforce and building Phoenix into a tech hub.I took this job because I wanted to impact lives. I see that in our graduated students.
