Working on the Early Works Contract for Fusion JV on Phase 1 HS2 as the Trainee Environmental Advisor. I had many works packages ranging from; utilities, ecological mitigation, vegetation clearance, landscape planting and surveys to assist with. Chaperoning a Senior Environmental Advisor on the section gave me a great deal of understanding on how to Advise the delivery team and subcontractors on production of environmental deliverables required by the client and environmental regulators.

For my second Summer Placement role as an Environmental Advisor I spent my time:• Giving local advice in establishing, implementing and maintaining project level EMS.• Learning Mentoring and coaching approaches of project based environmental staff.• Supporting Business Development.• Supporting the investigation of environmental incidents and advising on appropriate actions.• Contributing to the development and delivery of internal environmental/sustainability training.• Developing relationships with stakeholders, regulators and supply chain specialists.• Identifying and communicating best practice and promote continued improvement throughout the Company.

The key skills which obtained from my summer placement role as a Trainee Environmental Advisor where as followed:• Building a good understanding of environmental legislation and UK regulatory framework and the ISO14001 standard.• Gaining a good working knowledge of low carbon construction and ecology management, relating to work within the civil engineering industry.• Understanding the connections and involvement with Local councils, Environmental Health Officers, industry forum groups and trade bodies.• Collaborative and supportive behaviours with construction delivery teams to progress works effectively.
