At Fairhope High School Tyson played Varsity Football for four years, Varsity Tennis for three years, Varsity Track for two years, and served as Student Body President in his senior year. He earned Eagle Scout in his junior year and was inducted into the National Honor Society for four consecutive years. Tyson subsequently attended the United States Military Prep School.Tyson attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he continued to serve with distinction. He received West Point's SAS Award (football), was on the Regimental All Star Boxing Team for 3 years and served as Cadet Company Commander his senior year. At West Point, Tyson learned that physical fitness was paramount to success as a military leader. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and foreign languages.After West Point, Tyson graduated from Airborne School, the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Ranger School and Jumpmaster School (Honor Graduate). Tyson served with distinction for over eight years in the Army, finishing his service as a Captain, Military Intelligence, 25 ID (light), HHC Brigade Company Commander in 2002. Tyson served as a Battalion Intelligence Officer (BN-S2) for two different Infantry Battalions in the 25th Infantry Division (Light). He also served as the Division Intelligence Collection Manager for the 25th Infantry Division. An Infantry Brigade Commander offered him an infantry company command position (as an Intel Officer) where he served the remainder of his military career. Tyson also won the Hawaii State Boxing Championship and held the state title for three years until he left the island. Tyson subsequently started Ranger Industrial Services, LLC located in Mobile, AL. Now Tyson owns Veteran Industries, LLC and also owns a promotional company. In March of 2019, Tyson was elected as the Chairman of the Board of Directors for USA Boxing where he works to support TEAM USA and thousands of members in the organization. Tyson (while representing the U.S.) is also one of three founders of World Boxing, the new international boxing federation created to help keep boxing in the Olympic Movement.
