As an entrepreneur heavily influenced by my medical training as a cardiologist, I am deeply interested in identifying and solving important unmet medical needs. Additionally, given the trends that are shaping the healthcare system that I see from my position teaching about medical technology innovation, I am also interested in projects which focus on delivering meaningful clinical outcomes in ways that are cost-effective and value-driven.As such, of the four companies I have founded or co-founded, all focus on problems whose solutions are at the convergence of value-driven engineering, information technology, user-centric design, and/or clinical service as these are themes that are increasingly important to developing new technologies with sustainable business models. Further, these solutions are aimed at large patient populations, are usually delivered in the outpatient setting, are intimately tied to the gathering and analysis of information for decision making, and are deeply oriented towards delivering an outstanding user experience.My current venture, Element Science, is a culmination of past learnings that brings together many of these themes in the pursuit of developing an unique life-saving medical product. I am currently building an outstanding team in San Francisco of like-minded individuals interested in re-defining what a therapeutic medical device can be.
