Research Scientist (Ph.D.)
CurrentAs a research scientist I participate in the development and commercialization of optically responsive materials tunable by electrical, thermal, or mechanical stimuli from a technology base developed at UofT. These photonic crystals or structural colours are translated into industrially manufactured foiIs or flake-based ink formulations and applied as coatings. The resulting devices are integrated in display technologies or security features. Additionally, I design, tailor and provide the base materials to generate a product with the desired optical/physical properties. To analyze the optical responsiveness I devise instrumentation to simultaneously measure force, temperature, or current and to monitor the uniformity and dynamic behaviour of the structural colour material. The same instrumentation is utilized for quality control in small-scale manufacturing or industrial line production. The generated data is processed by customized algorithms programmed by me in MatLab or C.I am responsible for nano-particle and (electroactive) polymer syntheses, production and production upscaling.
