My name is Umer Farooq, and I hold a Master's degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the prestigious University of Peshawar. I am an experienced multimedia journalist, with a passion for telling stories that matter. My journey in journalism began while still a student, when I worked with IPR to report on various stories from the tribal belt. After completing my degree, I joined Maati TV, an online television platform, where I focused on cultural and women's rights stories. In 2016, I was selected for the Prime Minister Youth Internship program and served in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Peshawar. During my time there, I helped new students with video production, script writing, and idea pitching. In August 2017, I joined the Voice of America Urdu service as a multimedia journalist, where I worked for three and a half years on topics such as health, education, gender, and cultural issues from all over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the tribal districts. In addition to my work as a journalist, I have also served as a visiting lecturer at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan, where I teach TV production. I am always on the lookout for new opportunities to learn and grow in my field, and I am excited to see where my career in journalism will take me next.
