Supporting residents in overseeing and drafting policy solutions to create a water affordability program. -Successfully worked with Governor Mike DeWine’s office and the Ohio EPA to prohibit water shutoffs and to restore residential water services during the COVID-19 state of emergency, as well as stop partial lead service line replacements in Ohio. -Worked with partners and Ohio House of Representatives to introduce two bills 1) to fully replace lead service lines while creating grant programs for low-income Ohioans; and 2) create water affordability programs for low-income residents. -Mentored and trained internal staff and community organizations across the Great Lakes in the development and implementation of campaigns and policies-Lead a $1 billion ask of American Rescue Plan funds to inventory water service lines and replace lead service lines in Ohio. -Organized a group of frontline community groups from Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio to successfully stop a Congressional amendment from moving forward that would have incentivized consolidation of water utilities.
