As an Agricultural Communications major I am no stranger to the urban-rural divide, and I’ve been at the forefront of exploring new strategies to remedy this disconnect. Throughout my two years here at Cal Poly I’ve focused on content production à la Tiktok, Podcasts and Live Streaming which are popular formats within the newer generations. I’ve found the most success in promoting our stories through these mediums than traditional ones such as print, face-to-face or flyers/brochures. I've worked on several projects that are a culmination of all the skills I’ve learned so far and test my abilities with little room for error such as working as the Digital Manager for 3 agriculture-focused podcasts, being the livestream manager for the 96th California State FFA Conference and working as a content editor for the California Milk Advisory Board. I hope to show those without a perspective in agriculture information they may not readily have access to or know, in a more digestible manner. In an increasingly digital world, many industries have had to adapt to this new landscape in order to successfully promote themselves and their mission; agriculture is no different.
