I am an experienced user researcher, and Chief Research Officer at Fowlam. I have over a decade of experience in UX research, User Centred Design and Human Factors. My qualifications include a PhD in User Centred design, Chartered status with the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF), an honours degree in Applied Psychology and a Diploma in Leadership and Management. I have published over 50 articles on the application of User Centred Design in a wide range of contexts. I have spent my career evangelising human centred business in companies of all size, including the NHS, Ordnance Survey, Logitech, Biffa, local and central government. I have also won two awards for innovations in healthcare technology and has been shortlisted for a further three.In 2013 I set up my first company, The Insight Lab which I ran successfully with some great people until it was acquired by healthcare multi-national Bionical in 2015. The Insight Lab is now thriving as part of Bionical, specialising in UX research for Healthcare applications.In 2016 I set Fowlam with Frances Brown, offering practical user research and technology solutions for a wide range of clients. In 2020 we rebranded to Nightingale Design Research and broadened our scope to cover a full set of design research services. I am director and Chief Research Research Officer overseeing research design and specialising in work with central government.
