I had the great pleasure, privilege, and responsibility of initiating UX practices and streamlining the overall product development processes at QuestBack over the period of eight years. Along the way, via cross-disciplinary collaboration, focused work, and a holistic mindset, balancing user needs, business objectives, and technological challenges evolved into my second nature. By always keeping the user in the center and continuous experimentation I have greatly contributed to the usefulness, user-friendliness, and accessibility of the software with the ever-increasing complexity, fields of application, and diversity of users. In addition, a substantial workload embodied a range of managerial activities like building, coaching, and aligning distributed teams in Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Germany, talent recruitment, product vision and strategy, facilitation of the outsourced projects, the responsibility for diverse research activities and sharing of relevant insights, keeping the focus on outcomes, holding regular syncs and workshops with a range of stakeholders, etc. My grassroots technical expertise within the industry significantly contributed to the production cycles in general and to championing the Lean and Agile methodologies in particular. Through my tenure at QuestBack, I developed specific competence for this position by the persistent combination of theory, practice and open mind.

This was a contract via TEK Systems as a Lead Frontend Developer to work on four exceptionally fast-paced projects for Microsoft and Safeway. Please see the details listed below in the "Accomplishments" section.

This was my initial contract through TEK Systems, a reputable Silicon Valley outsourcing agency. I joined Williams Sonoma's remote web dev team in order to take over the frontend development in their major website upgrade. I was specifically responsible for the production of HTML templates and global CSS for Pottery Barn, and in some capacity for Pottery Barn Kids and Pottery Barn Teen. This contract was 100% telecommuting and it involved a considerable amount of remote collaboration. Some of the main activities in the project were:- Production of cross-browser UI based on visual designs by Organic.- Development of global CSS based on strict in-house style guidelines.- Project management via CVS.- Image optimization.

As an SFAI alumnus, it was my great honor to initiate and manage the transformation of sfai.edu—from a static brochure-like website into a dynamic scalable system—based on, at the time, the brand new ASP.NET framework. This position was challenging yet rewarding because A) I was deeply engaged in both discovery and delivery, simultaneously wearing product manager and product designer hats and B) this was my preliminary encounter with Agile methodology in practice. As a PM, I built a cross-functional product team and worked closely with a range of stakeholders on the development of the product vision and strategy, assessing risks, devising metrics, processing user insights, etc. As a PD, I conducted user research, experimented with prototypes, and collaborated with the team of two database specialists and one full-stack engineer on the organization and integration of dynamic content from two separate databases (Datatel and SQL) for the client-side display. In addition to UI development, I designed the CMS and a range of microservices that fulfilled the school's specific needs.

This was my initial freelance project in San Francisco in which I plunged straight into a very fast-paced production model based on a few loose guidelines and many tight deadlines. My role as a senior frontend developer in the production of the Pagoo.com website included the following responsibilities:- Production of cross-browser compatible HTML templates based on visual designs by Visdesign.- Development of global CSS in compliance with the client's visual identity.- Optimization of the entire graphical content for the website.- Cross-platform and cross-browser testing.- Release management.

The imperative in this position was to develop a responsive and modular frontend for e-commerce websites and corporate portals with exceptionally dynamic content. Attention to detail and immaculate consistency were of utmost importance for the organization's clients. Typically, my team consisted of a project manager, visual designer, frontend developer, and backend engineer. The workflow was a typical waterfall, whereupon receiving the visual design from a designer I would make decisions on how to most effectively translate it into the fully-functioning UI and coordinate the work further with the backend engineer all the way through the release. My responsibility was also to code all of the navigational components and interactive modules (portfolios, logins, tax calculators, calendars, etc.). Additionally, I was responsible for cross-browser and cross-platform testing, frontend code optimization in the existing clients' websites developed in ASP, C#, and PHP. As a sole frontend developer, I reported directly to CTO.
