When people ask me what my job is, I often tell them "I run the gamut from troubleshooting a keyboard all the way to designing multi-campus networks". The complexity might be different- but the objective is the same: work with the organization to find a solution. My skills over the years have changed the way I approach trivial tasks such as troubleshooting a keyboard, now my scope is more broad: what changes in an organization do I need to make to prevent a keyboard from breaking?Today, I commit much of my time to implement robust platforms to reduce helpdesk overhead, at the same time provide tools for better management, control, and security to the organization. For instance, Dot1X implementation is a technology that hardens our network- both wired and wireless. By utilizing tools that most businesses already have access to (such as a DC, Intune, managed switches) we can implement a Network Access Control platform such as Aruba ClearPass to standardize and monitor all connections to the network.Intune management and optimization is another area that I am proficient in. Creating better workflows for the service desk to unbox and deliver new hardware (both Windows and MacOS) is one of the best ways to decrease the workload for the team. Utilizing scripting across the organization via Intune is also a powerful tool I use daily to monitor and manage at scale.At the end of the day if we are going to solve the broken keyboard problem at scale, we will need buy-in from the end users themselves; training is the only way to accomplish this. I cultivated a skill to train users no matter what their skill level or competency. A trained user-base makes for a more efficient, safter, and robust organization.In the past decade of experience, I have perfected fostering lasting relationships by over-communicating, delivering results, and caring about the client's product, service, or ministry.
