Responsible for generating media coverage and sponsorships/promotion ideas as part of the team plan & coming up with key messages to be used throughout the communications efforts; in charge of evaluating success of the campaign tactics. Our client was the Missouri Council for Activity and Nutrition (MOCAN).

Responsible for writing blog posts, maintaining social media presence, assisting with event planning and marketing materials. Met with students to discuss study abroad programs and international experiences. Created comprehensive orientation handbooks with information tailored to each of the 20+ programs.

Worked as a news and features correspondent for the print and digital editions of Preston Hollow Advocate and Lakewood Advocate magazines. Attended community and city government meetings to seek out story ideas and report on local news and other issues, including President Obama’s visit to a Dallas neighborhood for a fundraising event.

Authored more than 80 articles and blog posts, maintained calendar, assisted with website design and event coverage for this online fashion, beauty and women’s lifestyle magazine, one of the largest in the UK.

Interviewed scientists for feature pieces; created content for the BrainHealth newsletter & designed the publication from scratch; planned events and assisted with stewardship campaigns for donors of the nonprofit organization.

Wrote regular columns about community issues and other various topics; participated in weekly "Sounding Off" questions in the Sunday paper

Covered the 2004 and 2008 presidential elections and important national events; attended political rallies, the Democratic Debate in Austin, and other events; interviewed political figures and wrote stories for Scholastic News and its website.
