Connecting with volunteers from all walks of life - individuals, students, corporates, community partners, I aspire to create impactful and holistic experiences for volunteers in their journey of growth within the community. I enjoy engaging with volunteers to understand their volunteering aspirations and match their skillsets to the needs on the ground, ensuring that their contribution to the community leads to a positive outcome in clients’ lives while motivating and inspiring volunteers to spread altruism. Appointed as the Volunteer Centre @ Yishun by SG Cares, my team and I connect and empower volunteers in purposeful engagements so that together we can build and inspire a caring society. Managing the hub of volunteerism and maintaining a close relationship with Social Service Agencies (SSAs), Ground-Up Movements (GUMs), Schools, Corporates and Community partners, my team and I co-curate community Initiatives within Yishun Town, coordinate and mobilize volunteers to support programmes and outreach for our partners, upgrade volunteers through trainings and ensure resources are shared purposely in the community.Full of exciting and creative ideas, I liaise with community partners keen to fundraise for the marginalized community through monetary and in-kind items, while also ensuring awareness and advocacy for the various community causes.

Involved in lesson planning, classroom preparation and providing intervention for special needs children with intellectual disability within a safe space in classrooms. Conducted GCO assessments by observing and understanding the behaviours of students, implementing strategies to support their learning needs while monitoring their progress and evaluating the goals set for students. I liaised closely with student's parents and/or caregivers by setting realistic goals and communicating regularly with them to ensure alignment of expectations in the student’s learning journey.

Apart from sourcing of donations and sponsorships, I support the Senior Director of Fundraising to oversee the operations of the department comprising of 13 staff. I directly manage a team of 4 executives in the Corporate Partnership team, to guide them in problem solving, ensure task accountability and team cohesiveness which would lead us to achieving both team and department targets.This role requires me to prepare annual income and expenditure of the fundraising budget for management's and committee approval. To also ensure the effectiveness of existing fundraising strategies, to develop new campaigns, manage resources and improving fundraising processes.Recording, monitoring and preparation of fundraising progress and reports to be presented during the Appeals Standing Committee meetings.I am also involved in the process of interviewing suitable candidates for various roles in the Fundraising Department and training of new staff.

Apart from account servicing and being a voice for the charitable cause as an executive, I was now given the opportunity to lead a team of two staff in the corporate recruitment team. I had to also monitor and maintain budget for various projects and events.With more experience in this role, I found myself securing larger corporate sponsorships with the highest donation amounting at $100,000.I was also assigned secretarial role at Appeal Standing Committee meetings.

As a people-oriented person who values relationships, i kept in constant contact with current corporate donors. This included arranging for meet ups to secure corporate sponsorships and effectively align corporate responsibility objectives towards the cause. Ensuring the company understood how donations are being used is essential in maintaining valuable long-term relationships.From time to time, i represented the charity by attending various corporate events which opened doors of opportunity to meet corporate supporters.Stepping out of my comfort zone, I learnt to be a writer and designer. To keep cost low, I tapped on my creativity to develop collaterals, proposals and presentations to suit different types of campaigns and lodgements for corporate appeals. Coming up with such content required me to work regularly and closely, building better working relationships with colleagues from various departments and centres under the organisation's umbrella.I spearheaded a successful Appreciation Dinner in 2017, with the support of colleagues in the Fundraising Department. This garnered a 10% increase in donations from previous year's event. I grew my network of contacts with agencies and government representatives from planning and execution of this event.This role also required me to matchmake Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities to best suit the centres under our Society's umbrella, ensuring beneficial impact to the beneficiaries under our care.
