Serving on the planning committee, I was one of 10-12 women collaborating and organizing a three day retreat attended by 50+ members of the Women Of Color (WOC) organization at Loyola University Chicago. Within this committee were three sub-committees, one of which being a marketing committee which required my group and myself to advertise around campus with flyers and newsletters, plan the decorations of the spaces used at the retreat venue, as well as design and create the murals which tied opening and closing ceremonies to the theme of our retreat! Our team collaborated to create and execute presentations and activities to engage our guests, as well as lead group discussions for up to 50 women at a time. These experiences certainly enhanced upon my public speaking and leadership skills, with more knowledge gained each year on the committee.
