In February 2014 I was given the awesome opportunity to go through Instructor Training and obtain my Washington State Cosmetology Teaching license. After being a hairdresser for over 10 years and managing most aspects of a salon, this is full circle. I love my job and hope that I not only find, but share, my greatness here. My first 3 years of teaching I had the privilege of teaching our Future Professionals at the middle of their program at GMAI. The curriculum included the business of being a hairdresser/service provider, resume writing, interview skill building, how to manage and build clientele, advanced color techniques, photo shoots and salon tours. I currently teach the entry class which has a focus on the fundamentals of haircutting (dual curriculum of Pivot Point and AVEDA), hair styling, basic anatomy/physiology, introduction to building professional relationships - connecting to and caring for the world the students are about to enter into. Its challenging, I love it. Taking on another role as I embark on a new career path and attend school to earn my Instructor's License. I manage our amazingly old building (100+ years, so fun!) and I do all retail and professional product purchasing.
