As a Public Health committee our mission is the promotion of wellness and healthy habits, through health education and behavior modification. Community engagement is vital in maintaining strong relationships throughout the communities we serve locally and in Mexico. Patient and community member feedback is an important tool in assessing the needs of the communities.

This program provides valuable hands-on experience medically screening asylum seekers. Volunteers will put on PPE and then teams of staff members and volunteers will go through the hotel to different rooms sheltering asylum seekers. My role is to help conduct a COVID medical screening and a general medical screening. I support the medical staff in various ways including temperature checks, collecting COVID tests, organizing data, and asking asylum seekers if they have any COVID symptoms or any other general medical concerns. Translation services will be used when needed.
